Ghiona mt - Mountain First Aid - Learning, Volunteering and Connecting in the Mornos Valley
From 1–5 October, we had the privilege of taking part in a unique experience in the Mornos Valley as partners in the Mountain First Aid training programme, organised by Wheeling2Help in cooperation with the Austrian organisation Support4Youth.
In addition to its educational activities, the programme included volunteer trail conservation. Terra Pindus – Land of Pindus coordinated the maintenance of the Mornos Valley section of the Pindus Trail, from the Mornos River crossing and the ancient fortification of Gla to the village of Sykia, including the approach to the ascent of Mount Giona.
The programme brought together 22 participants from across Europe, combining mountain safety training with hands-on conservation work.
